In 1989, Mark Nichols revolutionized the "fishing mousetrap" with his garage creation in Palm City, Florida. Growing up on the Gulf Coast and spending considerable time fishing and running a shrimp boat, his expertise led him to develop a dead ringer for the ultimate shallow water bait. His original three-inch shrimp gained widespread popularity and led to the founding of D.O.A. Lures in 1993. These artificial lures, often considered the "gold standard", differ primarily in weight - the 3" version weighs 1/4 oz while the 4" version weighs 1/2 oz.
